They asked me at high school what I wanted to do and I said I wanted to write. So I did a Bachelor of Arts in English and History because I didn’t want to be a lawyer and I knew that I wanted to write and then I did a Graduate Diploma in Journalism because that was the fastest way to get a job with words.

I didn’t want to work as a reporter: I hated news. What I wanted to do was find stories and take the time to tell them the right way. Still do, only these days I do that across a variety of different media in a variety of different ways.

One thing hasn’t changed: I just like learning about things. I seek things out and then I think about them and then I will tell you what I think.
